This course is designed for beginners who are interested in digital drawing. It offers an introductory drawing overview and different classroom exercises to enhance students' thinking skills, inspiring them to explore freely to evolve a gradual development of their own drawing style.
The course begins with an introduction to the concept of digital drawing, allowing students to understand the similarities and differences between digital art and traditional painting. Students will then pick up the basic tools of digital drawing. Once students get the grip, they will learn basic figure drawing techniques. As they work through the exercises, they will experience the complete drawing process and learn how to apply steps in drawing: from draft sketching, coloring, to planning and refining the final drawing.
Via the exercises, the instructor will also share websites for portfolios, material resources, and design inspirations, so that students can learn independently after class.

Learn Illustration from Scratch -
Basic Illustration
This chapter begins with a brief introduction to digital drawing concepts, followed by a short case study on digital graphics trends and applications. This will be followed by an introduction to the Krita interface and basic operations. Afterwards, the instructor will lead students in a simple draft exercise to familiarize them with the use of the graphics tablet.

Learn Illustration from Scratch - Celluloid Character Illustration
This chapter will cover the illustration process of Celluloid characters, including how to observe characters, how to express the key features and draw sketches quickly, how to portray various expressions and draw characters of different age groups.
At the same time, students will learn about the head-to-body proportions of different body structures in this section so that they can show design and proportion changes of different parts of the character. Once students are familiar with the basic figure structure and detail handling, they will further learn about the dynamic presentation of characters and related coloring techniques, as well as how to express shading and the three-dimensionality of the body. In addition, students will learn how to express different types of clothes and clothes coloring techniques. In the meantime, students will gain a solid grasp of the knowledge through various modeling and imitation exercises.
Finally, instructors will share how to collect relevant reference materials when drawing characters in celluloid style, so that students can work on character design and character drawing in their own time.
Learn Illustration from Scratch -
Chibi (Q-Version) Character Illustration
This chapter will first introduce the concepts of drawing chibi character illustration, including how to observe characters, how to grasp the drawing focus and sketch quickly, how to portray various expressions, and drawing characters of different age groups. Students will study the body structure of chibi characters and try to illustrate proportion and design changes to different body parts in exercises.
Once students are familiar with the basic character structure and handling details, they will then advance to learning about the dynamic presentation of characters, character coloring techniques, and portrayal and coloring techniques of different types of clothing. In addition, the course will also share how to collect relevant reference materials for drawing chibi characters, so that students can design and create characters independently after the class.
